In February we had two nights to celebrate Nigel and some of his most long standing patients came to celebrate with him and tea and cake. Many of the guests had their first lenses from Freddie Burnett Hodd, Nigel’s father. Some saw Nigel as young children.
Nigel gave a speech about the history of the practice and about what he is doing in his retirement. He passed around photo books of his early days and also of his garden and cacti collection.
Nigel is not only relaxing in the garden and on the golf course. He recently organised the conference of the International Society of Contact Lens Specialists in Edinburgh, attended by 40 of the world’s most expert contact lens designers and fitters and their partners.
He is planning to have an open garden in 2018 at his house in Surrey. One for the public and one for his patients. We will keep you informed as to when this will happen.
