Independent Prescribing

We would like to congratulate Connan Tam for achieving the Independent Prescribing qualification.

“Independent Prescribing enables optometrists to clinically assess a patient, establish a diagnosis, determine the clinical management required and prescribe where necessary.”

“The qualification enables an optometrist to prescribe any licensed medicine…for conditions affecting the eye, and the tissues surrounding the eye.”

This now means that all of our optometrists at Burnett Hodd & Tam have Independent Prescribing status. You will notice that Caroline Hodd, Connan Tam and Nicola Wood all have the affix, DipTp(IP).
